السلام عليكم
(PEACE BE UPON YOU)
Ramadan has once again taken us by surprise.
We began by replacing our favorite music with Quran, Noman lectures and nasheeds.
We start enjoying the smell of cooking near 8:30pm.
The house is filled with lights and seem to come alive at night.
We notice the love, compassion, and unity in the mosque.
Hearing the recitation of the Iman triggers something in our hearts.
Enjoying late nights with friends and family at HEB, tarweed, and IHOP or Sonic.
Mornings can be tough, with having to eat until your stomach pops.
This is the time where our deen becomes one within us.
1. Stay hydrated
Doctor recommend 8-9 cups of water a day but in Ramadan after iftar we would only drink 2 glasses
2. Start a Ramadan bucket list
By making a Ramadan bucket list this help motivate you to go to the mosque, read more Quran and spend more time with family.
3. Try to leave the masjid when prayer or tarweed is over.
Tarweed can last until 11:00pm or even 12:00pm which on the road can be prime time for drunk drivers. In this month we seem to forget some people can make mistake that could potential harm us in the end. So cut the chit chat a bit with the gals after pray and save it for iftar and suhoor.
4. Celebrate Ramadan by decorating your house to get in the spirit
By doing this an aroma of blessing become more prevalent and remind you that this is no ordinary month.
5. AVOID WEARING HALAL NAIL POLISH
Even if you try explaining to the auntie that it is halal nail polish, she will continue on with her lecture.
6. Try to stay away from sugar in iftar
It can be tempting to reach over for the coke or that you save but try to satisfy that sugar need by eating fruits like strawberries, apple, and cranberries. But if that doesn’t hit the spot a little bit of dark chocolate dip won’t hurt the sweet tooth
7. Ayabys and traditional clothes will be your best friend this month
Listen, you know that aunty who was lecturing you about the evils of nail polish?
Well when she sees you in your twenty five dollar skinny jeans, not only will confront you again but also tell the lady next to you and then she going to tell the next lady and the next until when you finish sunah prayer the whole room is whispering thoba-thoba. I say this from experience, save the humiliation and just play it safe with ayaby and tradish clothes.
